SUPPLY OF POWER.
AUCKLAND DECISION,
Per Press Association,
AUCKLAND, Sept. 17. The Auckland Power Board decided that, unless advised by the Public Works Department to the contrary, it would close down all its generating plant at King’s Wharf as soon as the Arapuni second unit is working satisfactorily. The board assumes that it can depend on Arapuni for current and leaves the responsiblity of saying it cannot rest with the department. To have decided for itself that it must keep the King’s Wharf station fully in commission would have meant making it responsible for an outlay that might prove needless. ' The State must now accept the obligation of providing power from its plant or arranging for supplementary supplies.
