DARING ESCAPE.
CONSTABLE OVERPOWERED
PRISONERS CAPTURED BY BLACK TRACKER. Received September 18, 9.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 18. A message from Bourke states that three prisoners made a daring escape from the Yatanbulla lock-up. When Constable Rippon took the men their tea, they knocked him down and brutally assaulted him, rendering him unconscious. They then escaped into the bush. The police on the surrounding stations were immediately notified, and the hunt for the escapees continued throughout the night. A black tracker discovered the prisoners tho next day. The police travelled over 100 miles in the course of their search.
