WOMAN ROAD SCOUT.
PATROLLING SURREY ROADS. FORMERLY WEST END MANNEQUIN. (Australian Press Association.) Received September 18 11.55 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 17. The first woman road scout for patrol duty on tho Surrey roads is Miss Elsie Horton.
A few days ago Miss Horton was a mannequin in a West End store. She states that working in the West End is a great contrast with patrolling the roads, but she does not intend to cease being feminine because it is a man’s job. The colour scheme of Miss Horton’s uniform is red and blue; she wears a high-necked tunic with a peaked cap worn at a jaunty angle, black gaiters and white gauntlets. Her equipment consists of a first-aid outfit and, possibly, a powder puff.
