TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
SUGGESTED UNIFORMITY. The fact that local regulations and by-laws frequently embarrass visiting motorists was mentioned at the Motor Traders’ Conference this morning. Mr D. F. Bauchop (Wellington) who introduced the subject, stressed the necessity for uniformity in several aspects of traffic control, and the following resolutions were carried: — (1) “That the conference re-affirms the principle that municipal by-laws and other reasonable traffic control, having as their objective public safety, receive full support.” (2) “That the Municipal Associa-tion-be urged to take immediate steps to provide a maximum degree of uniformity in such things as packing, street notices, signs, and so on, to eliminate embarrassments and penalties to visiting motorists.” (3) “That the conference pledges itself to assist in every way possible the introduction of such reasonable bylaws.”
