SCHOOL CHILDREN’S HEALTH.

VISITS OF DR GLNN,

The attention of tlio Russell Street School Committee, last evening, was drawn to the importance of good health by the headmaster, Mr F. C. Campbell.

In his monthly report Mr Campbell stated as follows:—“On September 12 Dr Elizabeth Gunn paid an official visit to the school. Invitations were sent to the parents of the children to bo examined and quite a number availed themselves of the opportunity of meeting the doctor and discussing with her various matters concerning the “health of the children. Should time permit Dr Gunn proposes visiting the school again before the end of the year. In the event of a further visit I would Btrongly urge upon all parents concerned to personally confer with her. Good health is vital to educational progress and towards the realisation of this Dr Gunn is always ready and willing to impart sound advice.” . - The chairman (Mr D. Morrison) enquired whether Dr Gunn's advice was always followed by the parents. Except in a few isolated cases the treatment recommended by her was given, stated Mr Campbell. Mr Morrison asked whether, if a child’s parents could not afford the treatment prescribed, the child could be treated as an outpatient of the Hospital. Mr Campbell replied that he was of the opinion that the doctor could arrange for this with the Hospital Authorities.
