FIRE ON STEAMER.
VESSEL MAKING FOR ALBANY.
Received September 20, 10 a.m. ALBANY, Sept. 20. The Irish steamer Knockfierna, which is en route to Melbourne, is making for Albany with a fire in number one hold, which contains a cargo of coal.
A wireless message received from the ship stated that tho coal was very hot and was giving off a heavy quantity of gas continuously. There was no immediate danger, however, and the fire was being kept under control,
