GENERAL FORECAST.
'An anti-cyclone is moving on to Southern New Zealand. A cyclone has developed in Bass Strait. There are indications also of a slight cyclone east of Napier. Winds moderate to strong from between south-west and southeast. Seas rough south of East Cape and about Cook Strait; otherwise moderate. Light to moderate southwest to south-east winds, and smooth Ito moderate seas in the Eastern Tas.man. Weather dull and unsettled in eastern districts with rain, but improving later from Cook Strait southwards; mainly fair to fine in western districts. Cold temperatures with frosts inland in the South Island. DISTRICT REPORT. VERY COLD NIGHT. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for southeasterly winds, moderate to strong and freshening later and backing by east to north. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, with scattered showers. The night will probably be very cold, with frosts inland, but conditions will be milder to-morrow.
