CURIOUS STORY

MOCK MARRIAGE. SCOTTISH GIRL IMPRISONED. (Australian Press Asociation). LONDON, Sept. 21. A curious story was told to-day by two young women of Glasgow, who went through a form of marriage in order that they should not be separated. Mary Brown, aged 26, dressed as a man, induced a Catholic priest to perform the ceremony. That was in 1926, and thereafter they lived together in Ireland, Mary Brown reassuming female attire, but working to support the other girl. . The magistrate described the affair as remarkable*, and sentenced Mary Brown to gaol for 40 days.
