BUNNYTHORPE.
(From Our Own Correspondent). BUNNYTHORPE, Sept. 21. On Tuesday afternoon Sister Micholls and the Maori mission party were the guests of the Bunnythorpe Ladies Guild at afternoon tea in the Methodist Sunday School. A number of items including hakas and poi dances, was given by the visitors, and Sister Nicholls gave a very interesting address on ancient customs and methods of the Maori people. She also outlined the work being done amongst the Maoris in the Far North. The afternoon was much appreciated by the visitors and the local members of the church.
On Friday afternoon a well attended meeting of the Anglican and Methodist Church workers took place in the library room when they extended a welcome to Mr 5 Porter, organising secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society who ga,ve a very interesting address on the work and objects of the society. So as to extend the work already commenced in Bunnythorpe by the local church. workers it was decided to form a branch locally.
The Anglican Ladies’ Guild held a. most successful euchre evening in the hall on Friday where there was a good attendance. Mrs Sinclair won the ladies’ prize and Mr ,T. O’Donnell the gentlemen’s prize. A special prize was donated by Mr Bull, a handsome decorated cake, to the lady or gentleman winning the most games, was won by Mrs Sinclair. Tho friends of Mrs J. Thomas, will regret to hear that she is an inmate of a private hospital. The youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Gee was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital during the week.
