BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.
A branch of the British and Foriegn Bible Society was formed at Bunnythorpe, recently, when a meeting was held in the Library Hall. Mrs Porter spoke upon the origin and growth of the society and the manner of organising. The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs Scheidt; vice-president, Mrs Donald; secretary, Mrs Turner; collectors, Mesdames Turner, Ranson, Scheidt, Gore, Misses Ranson and Purnell. All were entertained to afternoon tea and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded those who provided it. A vote of thanks was also passed to the hall committee for the use of the hall. All were most enthusiastic and decided to commence the annual effort at once. Mrs Hair was re-elected president of the Kimbolton branch and Mrs Calder secretary, to whom a high tribute was paid for her tireless energy and enithu.iiasm. Collectors elected were Mesdames Burne, Calder and Atkinson. Mrs Barnicoat was unanimously elected vice-president. Mrs Porter addressed the meeting and com gratulated all the* workers upon the excellent result of last year. Mr W. J. Smith presided at the Colyton annual meeting and gave an impressive address upon the value of the Bible to all people. Mrs Porter spoke upon the work at home and abroad and heartily thanked the members for their return last year, it being the record for Colyton; also the pleasure it was to have Waiata represented by Mrs Cousins who had decided to extend the work there. The following were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr W. J. Smith; vice-presidents, Mesdames Bruce, McLeod, Hoeken, Bray and Mr Pearce; secretary and treasurer, Miss I. M. Pearce; collectors, Misses E. Ireland and Hazel Hoeken. All were entertained to a delicious and dainty afternoon tea by tho members. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs W. J. Smith for her sable and generous help.
