BULLS
GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, .Sept. 22. The semi-finals of the Rangitikei Club’s men’s championship woro played on Saturday afternoon in fino but windy weather, and both games were very keenly contested. J. S. 'l.'rickcr, a comparatively youthful player, created some exeitoniont by taking last year’s champion, A. J. Law, to the 20th green, and Hendry and Cooper also had a tough tussle, Hendry winning on the 18th green, one up. In the play-off for Mr Trickor’s trophy, S.W. Ingram defeated L. D. Whisker by one stroke, 32—31. McKELVIE CUP SHOOTING. Great interest was taken in the MclCclvie Cup match between Ohakea Club (holders) and Linton Club (challengers) at Ohakea on Friday evening. The shooting was of a very high standard, and only the steadiness of the home team, pulled them through by the. narrow margin of 4 points. Linton provided the “stars” of tho match, Shelley and McAvinue both registering “double possibles,” while Barlow, Lewis and Griffiths all put on tho “possible” at ono range. Unfortunately for Linton, tho tail did not wag well, but tho team was not disgraced, their score being a very fine one. Even scoring was a feature of tho Ohakea team’s tally, there not being a poor “shoot” in the eight recorded. K. Lumsdcn, IC. Vile, A. Vile and J. Simpson were all responsible for single “possibles,” and the total. (1103) will take a lot of beating. In addition to the cup match, four additional riflemen from each club made the number up to twelvo for a friendly inter-club “shoot,” and Ohakoa’s gland aggregate was 14 points ahead of that of Linton. Detailed scores woro as follow:—
