BAINESSE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BAINESSE, Sept. 20. Tho main highways gangs have now met a few chains the Palmerston North side of the Bainesso station and the permanent road now gives a clear view of the approach for a considerable distance. The road is now forming a solid surface and the improvement will be a welcome one, though for months tho factory carts have experienced anything but an enviable time getting through the soft formation. At a recent meeting of the social committee of tho Rangiotu Lodge, it was decided to hold a ball in October. This will bo tho first ball held by the Oddfellows of Rangiotu and a large crowd is anticipated, no stone having been left unturned to make the function a success.
It was inadvertently omitted to include the M.C.’s for the social evening tendered to Mr and Mrs N. Macaulay last week. They woro Messrs M. J. Ryan and S. Pearce, who ably fulfilled the duties.
