AUSTRALIAN TURF.

LIMERICK’S INJURY. ’ TRAINER HOPEFUL. Received September 23, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 23. Trainer F. O. Jones is hopeful that Limerick will race again, but he is by no means confident that the gelding has not reached the end of his career.

A veterinary surgeon stated to-day that tho horse was in great pain after the race. It had broken a suspensory ligament off the foreleg, which was highly inflamed. An official report stated that the ligament was broken and this was responsible for the assumption that it would be useless in attempting to train Limerick again. Nightmarch has a slight swelling near one of his knees, but this is not likelv to interfere with his preparation.
