LUNATIC ON EAST RIVER BRIDGE
VIOLENT TUSSLE.
(Australian Press Association. —United Service.) NEW YORK, Sept. 22. Escaping from the insane ward at a Manhattan hospital to-day, Janies Bennett, an ironworker, climbed the East River bridge. The lunatic reached a narrow beam 135 feet above the river, and resisted capture. Finally, Patrolman Saeger, approaching from behind, grappled with Bennett and fought him for ten minutes. The madman was subdued with an arm lock, and lowered with a rope. Thousands watched tho incident.
