WOODVILLE.

PERSONAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Sept. 23. Rt. Rev. Dr Sedgwick, Bishop of Waiapu, who is on a farewell visit to Woodville, is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. H. Nelson. Mr and Mrs A. Kirkpatrick, of Hastings, were visitors to Woodville for tho weekend. Miss N. Sheen, when competing at the Hastings Spring Flower Show, was successful in annexing the Baker Rose Bowl for a collection of 12 distinct daffodils in the amateur class. Mr and Mrs A. Ashby, of Palmerston North, were the guests of Mrs Kirkpatrick over tho week-end. At an open £35 clay bird match held by the Dannevirko Gun Club on Saturday Mr T. Kearins, of the local Gun Club, divided the stake with two other competitors. CRICKET CLUB. The annual general meeting of tho Woodville Cricket Club was held on Saturday evening, Mr T. TI. Williams presiding over a fair attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet, which showed a small credit, were adopted. The following officebearers were elected Patron, Dr P. H. Mules; president, Mr T. H. Williams; vicopresidents, Messrs W. A. Lyon, B. H. Norman, J. I. N. Mackie, O. H. Druce, J. P. Goodwin, F. Shearman, P. G. Burlace and H. P. Horne; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Mair; captain, Mr C. Gallon; vicecaptain, Mr A. Rainsdon; committee, Messrs W. J. Miller, C. Goodwin, P. Horne, J. Charles, T. Finer, R. Patterson and H. McNeil.

Messrs H. Geison, R. Clioto and J. Burlace wore elected as new members. The secretary was appointed as the club’s delegate to (he Southern Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association. Votes of thanks were accorded the Borough Council and town clerk for assistance in keeping the ground in order, and also to tho ladies for supplying refreshments during the season. It was decide dto hold a dance at an early date to augment the club’s finances.
