RANGITIKEI GOLF CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. 23. Mrs Noel Harris has donated prizes for senior and junior grades, and Mrs Ralfe for the “C” grade in Wednesday’s competition for ladies. A one club competition will bo played, and tho draw is as follows: —Mrs Marumaru plays Mrs Mansell; Mrs Anderson plays Miss Wilson; Miss McKenzie plays Mrs Mackay; Mrs Hendry plays Mrs R. McKclvie; Mrs McDonell plays Miss 0. Levctt; Miss Petrie plays Mb® Bailey; Mrs Dc Burgh plays Miss Goodall; Miss Perrett plays Miss P. Levett; Mrs Robbie plays Miss Green; Mrs Carter plays Miss Amon; Mrs Thompson plays Miss M. McKelvie; Miss R. .McKclvie plays Miss Tricker; Miss Taverner ulays Miss Walker; Mrs McKenzie plays Mrs Prichard; Miss M. Goodall plays Miss Brookie; Mrs Ralfe plays Mrs Law; Mrs Drew plays scorer. A week-end match was played at Bulls between members of the Taihapo and Rangitikei Golf Clubs. The weather was perfect, and the greens and fairways in good order. Rangitikei won tho four-ball games by 3 to 1, and tho singles by 6 to 4. Details are as follow (Ranigtikei mentioned first) : Four-ball. —J. S. Tricker and Cooper halved with Auld and Joblin; Hendry and A. K. Drew defeated O’Callaghan and Kincaid; Bertram and Mansell defeated Smith and James; Daniell and Dalrymple defeated Addis and Hintz; Prichard and Mitchell lost to Mortland and Trigg; Ingram and Mackay halved with Easton and Benson. Singles.—Tricker defeated Auld; Cooper halved with Joblin; Hendry defeated O’Callaghan; Drew defeated Kincaid; Bertram halved with Smith; Mansell defeated James; Daniel defeated Addis; Petrie lost to Mortland; Mitchell lost to Trigg; Ingram lost to Eaton; Mackay lost to Benson. Totals: Rangitikei 9, Taihapo 5. “BUSY BEES” ENTERTAINMENT. In spite of counter attractions, there was a good attendance at the “Busy Bees” entertainment, held in the Clitton Hall on Friday evening. The young entertainers received a very good hearing, and showed good training. The programme was as xollowsPianoforte duet by Misses Minnie Kearney and Zelma McGregor; choruses by the girls and boys; elocutionary item by Miss Joan Signal; dialogue by the girls; Highland Fling, Miss Z. McGregor; recitations, Jim Cole and Joan Mansell; humorous playette by tho girls; duologues, Misses Mavis Brightwell and Elsie Harper, and Misses Ena Cooper and Florence Haycock. A novel item that was greatly appreciated was the singing of “Lead, Kindly Light,” in Maori, and a mandolin duet by Mrs Beavis and daughter. During the evening a sale of work was conducted, and as tho result of tho efforts of the young people a good sum -will be handed over to the missions. At tho conclusion Miss Nancy Wilson congratulated tho performers on their splendid entertainment, and thanked the audience for their attendance. MASQUERADE BALL. Inclement weather militated against the attendance at the masquerade ball on Friday night, but the attendance -was very fair, including a good number of visitors from Marlon. The fancy costumes worn were novel and amusing, and the function was pronounced a great success. Mr Purnell, Mayor of Marton, thanked patrons for attending, and so assisting the Marton Carnival. The music, supper, and other arrangements were first class, and the spirit of carnival was the outstanding featuro of a very cnpoyablo night’s entertainment.
