AUDACIOUS THEFT.

WOMEN LOSE PURSES. (Bv Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. An audacious theft occurred at the home of Mr Guy Taylor at Claudelands last evening. Mr Taylor, was in hospital at the time. Mrs Taylor, who was alone in the house, saw a man put his hand through tne bedroom window and take a purse containing £2 10s from the table.

Mrs Taylor screamed, but by the time her neighbours responded to her call the man had disappeared. Miss Jolly, of Frankton. who was a guest in another Claudelands home last evening, reports the loss of her purse containing a cheque for £lO, Some silver and personal effects. The bag disappeared during the evening.
