PRIME MINISTER’S STATEMENT. CONCESSIONS"UNLIKELY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. Replying to Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates in the'House of Representatives early this morning just before the conclusion of the sitting, Sir Joseph Ward stated that Kb proposed to take the second reading of the Land aud Income Tax (Annual) Bill to-day. Ho had agreed to meet two deputations on the subject, but it was necessary that legislation should bo placed on the Statute Book as soon as possible because until then the ordinary notices could not be sent out to the taxpayers. Ho added that there was practically no margin for concessions and there was little ground for tho hopes that the requested changes would be granted.
