GOLF CHAMPIONS.
GATHERING AT WANGANUI.
WANGANUI, Sept. 25,
The Belmont golf links are receiving high praise from visiting golfers, and the general opinion is that they are of a far higher standard than any played on tor many years at a championship tournament. Some good rounds were played to-day, J. D. McIntosh going round in. 73 against his 74 of yesterday. J. Goss (Wanganui), who won the amateur championship when the tournament was played here in 1923, played a better round yesterday than tie has played for some time, going round in 76. To-day was even better, his card reading 73. J. R. Galloway (Palmerston North) put in a good 74. The Belmont course is a very difficult one, and only once in twenty years lias 70 been broken. Shaw went round this morning in 70, tho best score so far this week.
