Mr : And you suggested that he should buv the farmr Petitioner: Yes. And the Stock? Yes. . And the furniture? And he was to marry Mrs Smith when yon divorced her; that was your proposal ? . Mr'Meredith: It was really a walkin, walk-out proposal in which you were to dispose of to Mr McClean your farm, stock, children and wife. - , Petit’oner said that next day lie had the name of the second child changed from Smith to McClean, and went with Mr McClean to a solicitor and signed documents and arranged for a divorce. Questioned further by Mr Meredith about the conference he had with Mr McClean, Mr Smith said that he was offered £IOOO if he would drop tho divorce proceedings, go on living with his wife and go to another part of the country. He admitted that he said he was getting old and wanted something for Iris old age. He denied having told Mrs McClean that £2OOO was his figure. He was informed on Mav 29 that McClean would defend the divorce proceedings, that he would not pay any more money and would not marry Mrs Smith.
