RAILWAY MISHAP.
CAR DERAILED NEAR SHANNON,
When approaching Shannon, about a mile from the town this forenoon, a mishap occurred to the Wellington-New ' .Plymouth, a ca.r in the front of the train being derailed. The car was brought to the yard at Shannon after being restored to the rails and there left, the engine returning to the scene of the mishap, and the train resuming its normal journey. It was due to reach Palmerston Nqrth at 2.30 o’clock. ; A relief train was despatched from Palmerston North, being attached to the Napier-Wellington express, leaving here shortly after one o’clock, but it was not required. The only delay in the service was to the first-named express.
