GENERAL FORECAST.
-A deep depression is crossing the Dominion. Strong westerly winds, of gale force at places, backing to southwesterly. , Heavy seas in Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere rough.’ Strong west to south-west winds to gales in Tasman Sea, with rough to heavy seas, but winds and sea both moderating. Weather unsettled and squally, with scattered rain in moet districts, and hail on parts of the East Coast. Temperatures becoming cooler. A fairly rapid improvement, however, is likely. ,
DISTRICT REPORT.
The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for southerly winds, moderate to strong, after ten hours veering by west to north. The barometer is rising slowly, but falling slowly again after ten hours. There is a prospect of fair weather.
