SAVING TO THE TAXPAYERS

The Daily Express’s city editor understands that a gigantic conversion scheme . for the whole of the national debt is under consideration. The greater part of the saving in interest payments would be equivalent to 18d in income tax, and would be passed on to the taxpayers.

“A similar plan has been carried out in Australia, where Government stock# stand at a higher level to-day than before the conversion,” states the writer.
