Beautiful weather prevailed for the final gallops at Ellerslie this morning for the Takapuna meeting. -’ Th 6 course proper, with the polet • 30ft. out, was available,. and most of the,, fast work was done on this track, while the tan track was also in use. The going oil both tracks was excellent, and several fast gallops were recorded, the best being by Karangapai, Grand Spirit and Llanore. On the course proper, . Sir Mond and Great Emblem ran six furlongs running the first three in 40 l-sseo„ and the full distance in 1.20 2-5. There was little between them at the finish. Karangapai had the measure of Royal Gallant at the conclusion of half a mile in 49 3-sseo. This was an .excellent effort. Karangapai did his work well. Speedfast, after running the first three furlongs in 38 3-ssec., completed six furlongs jn 1.19 1-5. He could have improved on this .time. BramptQn was holding Good Idea at. the end of half a mile in 513-ssecs, the former working particularly well. Llanord was timed to run seven furlongs in L3O A-5, the final six taking 1.17 3-5. This mare is engaged in-the Jockey Club Handicap on Saturday. Escalus, looking in first rate order, was sent- five _ furlongs and after running the first two in 26scc, finished up in L 4 3-5.: : ' 1, On the tan. Ruling King was given an easy six furlongs gallop. Grand_ Spirit was going better than Golden Spahi at. the conclusion of half a mile in 51sec. This is the bost effort seen on this track for some timo. Click Clack was given an easy task, running homo over tho last three furlongs in 43 2-ssec. Tho filly is in good order. Sileno was aont over fivo furlongs, which ho completed in 1.5 3-5, tho final naif milo taking 52 2-ssoc. Tarporley and Dominican trotted round to tho half milo post and came home in 52 .l-ssec. There was not much between them at the finish.

At Takanini, Ganpat was a length in front of High Comedy and Refresher, who wore going comfortably over fivo furlongs in L2. Chief Jewel beat Chief Joy over a similar distance in 1.2 3-6.
