NEW ZEALAND FLOWER SHOW

; DISPLAY AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 28. The National Flower Show was opened to-day at the King Edward Barracks by Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. There was a large attendance. The exhibition was a magnificent one, alb sections, especially the floral and fruit displays, being on a scale never seen at Christchurch previously. .<■ • ' ■ In addition there was a collection of New Zealand plants, tropical fruits, flowers and alpine plants. The following is the prize list: Loder Cup.—Bennett and Son (Dunedin). Sutton Cup, for most points in vegetable classes.—J. Carson. Premier gladioli.—W., Brockman. Premier primnlinus hybrid.— W. J. Brailey. Dahlia championship.—Mr A. J. Shailer,of Palmerston North (“Prince of Persia"). Armstrong Cup, for most points in gladioli section.—C. H. Moir. . White Cup, for nurserymen’s exhibit.—J. W. Robinson.

' Gold medal, for most outstanding exhibit.—A. and S. Reid. Bronze medal: W. Jones and Son.

Silver medals for displays were awarded to the Christchurch Domains Board and City Council, and bronze medals to exhibitors of citrus and other tropical fruit and New Zealand flax.
