APITI, Jan. 29. Mr and Mrs W. Wilson, of Okato, were entertained at a very pleasant social evening at the parsonage on Thursday night. Mr Thomas, on behalf of his parishioners, extended a very hearty wolcoino to the guests of the evening. Mr Wilson suitably replied. Tho evening passed all too quickly with musical items, games and competitions, after which a very dainty supper was served by Mrs Thomas' and tho ladies, of . the Methodist Church. A committoo of ladies organised a very jolly leap year danco which took place on Thursday evening in, tho Apiti Town Hall. The M.C’s. wore Mesdamcs K. Waterßon, R. Osbomo, and Miss M. Mckcnzie. Mrs T. Fowolls played for the dances, extras being,given by Misses Cummorfiold and Signal and Mr J. CJawood. A tasty home-made supper was provided by tho lady supporters of. tho Rifle Club, who intend donating a trophy to tho club from tho proceeds of tho dance. On Thursday afternoon tho committee of tho Women's Institute met to finaliso arrangements for next institute day. Mrs W. A. Churchill was in tho chair. On Tuesday, February 2, Miss Leslie is to give a talk on “Life in China.” The “market stall” is to bo conducted by Mesdames G.' Souness and F. Munto. Tho competitions arc to bo for two classes of bread; (1) compressed yeast, and ,(2) hop yeast, and' also two classes for swoets; (1) cocoanut ice, and (2) toffee. Mesdamcs J. R. Stewart and J. Malone, Misses Strahan and Stanley aro the competition stewards. Entry fee as usual is 3d. It was proposed to ask Mr and Mrs Gallus, of Kimbolton, to judge these competitions. Members are reminded of tho small coin collection for prizes for tho group picnio next month. February hostesses will bo Mesdamos A. R, HcNae, A. H. MoNae. T. Nix, R. Osbomo and Miss Linda Osborne.
