FAREWELL GATHERING.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Jan. 30!

Last evening members of All Saints’ Vestry and choir met in the Anglican schoolroom to bid farewell to Mr and. Mrs R. Warwick, who are leaving Foxton 1 for Palmerston North where Mr Warwick has been transferred to the staff of the College Street School. There was a largo attendance and ■■, pleasant time was spent _in games and competitions. At a suitable juncture during the evening the vicar (Rev. W. H. Walton) made a presentation of an electric bedside lamp to Mr and Mrc Warwick, and in doing so expressed the deep regret of all members of the parish and town generally at their departure from Foxton. Mr Walton referred to the very fine work carried out by Mr Warwick in connection with the Boy Scout movement in Foxton. Ho had devoted considerable time and energy to the formation of a troop locally and had been responsible for the success of tho movement. As Scoutmaster he had discharged his duties faithfully and well and done much towards fostering the future welfaro of the young people with whom was associated. Both Mr and Mrs Warwick had also been devoted members of the church and Mrs Warwick had enthusiastically assisted in any movement in connection therewith, and it was with very deep regret that they had learned of their pending removal to Palmerston North. All however, joined with him in wishing them health and happiness in their new sphere. Mrs C. H. Symons and Mr S. H. Poole endorsed the vicar’s remarks and eulogised the good work carried out by both Mr and Mrs Warwick during their sojourn in Foxton, after which Mr Warwick suitably replied and thanked the donors for their present whioh they would always cherish and which would serve to remind them; of the happy time they had spent in Foxton. They were not moving far away and would still retain a close (connection with their Foxton friends. During the’ evening an amusing competition, was won by Mr Warwick. Supper was dispensed for the ladies' and at the conclusion of the evening all joined in singing "For they are Jolly Good fellows" and ‘‘Auld Lange Syne.”
