PALMERSTON NORTH GUN CLUB.
OPENING OF SEASON
The Palmerston North Gun Club opened the 1932-33 season recently, the principal event being the first round of the Luoni Cup. series. In spite of the very strong wind blowing, AV. AV. Coor and F. Broughton each registered a possible of 10 birds each, with AA r . A. Thomson 9, P. A, Meehan 2, M. Kenrins 8, anu N, D. Stubbs 7. No. 1 sweep was won by AV) A. Thomson who also got a possible of 10; M. Kearins 9, P. A. Meelian 8, AV. AV. Cook 8, F. Broughton 8, N. D. Stubbp 7. No. 2 Sweep.—Having got bis eye in, AA 7 . A. Thomson was not be denied although back on the 20yds mark. He came back to the shed with another 10 breaks in the No. 2 sweep, making a total of 29 out of 30 for the day. P. A. Meehan and AA 7 . AV. Cook tied for second placo with 9 birds each. Tlio second round of the Luoni Cup wns fired on Saturday- under most unfavourable conditions, the wind making tho birds (clay-) difficult to hit. Following bis previous good shoot, AA 7 . A. Thomson again registered a possible in the Cup and also the No. 2 sweep. The best scores for tlio day woro as follow :
Second round, Luoni Cup.—AV. A, Thomson 10, AA r . AV. Cook 7, F Broughton 6, M. Kearins 6. No. 1 Sweep.—AV. AV. Cook 8, AV A. Thomson 7.
No. 2 Sweep.—AA 7. A. Thomson 10, AA 7 . AA 7 . Cook 8, M. Kearins 7. Tho club purpose holding a Christmas shoot on 21st inst., when it is anticipated an enjoyable afternoon’s sport will bo held.
