RUSSELL ST. SCHOOL

FOOTBALL TROPHY PRESENTED. Representing the Kia Toa Football Club. Messrs H. R. Crawford (president; and G. Brown (hon. secretary) paid a visit to the Russell Street School yesterday to present a miniature gold football to Tony Beere, who won the club’s trophy for the most improved player in tlio schooi football teams. Tlio headmaster (Mr F. C. Campbell) welcomed the club’s representatives and expressed appreciation of its practical interest in senool football. , , Emphasis was laid by Mr Crawford, upon the part which sport played in the healthy development of the boy, Rugby football equipping him with resourcfulness, courage and endurance. He explained the significance of the name Kia Toa. Mr Brown spoke in similar strain and Mr H. V. Mountfort, coach of the team, returned thanks on behalf of the winner.
