PERSONAL.

Major G. A. C. Cowper, formerly pilot instructor of the Manawatu Aero Club, has been appointed to a similar position with the newly formed Whangarei Aero Club.

No further change in the condition of Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor, who was injured at the Milson aerol drome recently, was reported by the Palmerston North Hospital authorities to-day.

Mr R. D. Knight, of Longburn, who recently met with an accident which confined him to hospital for a brief period, was cordially welcomed back to the meeting of the general committee of tho Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association to-day.

The Palmerston North Rotary Club yesterday passed a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Rev. Professor Hewitson, of Dunedin, Rotarian W. G. Black, the president, stating that his passing would mean a severe loss.

The promotions and transfers for the Palmerston North Police District, to take effect in the immediate future, include the transfer of Sergeant Cahill from Feilding to Otahuliu and his replacement by Sergeant M. J. Angland, of Hamilton ; and that of Constable W. J. B. Grainger from Levin to Waipawa and his replacement by Constable Warren, of Wellington.

Oscar Anderson, son of Mr P. Anderson, of Palmerston North, has completed with success his course at the Feilding Agricultural High School. Admitted to second-year status there on the strength of his two years in the agricultural course in the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, he was near the top in 1931, and took top place this year, gaining his certificate in agriculture and the Feilding A. and P. Association’s cup for highest aggregate of marks in all subjects. Mr A. C. Morton, of Ohingaiti, today submitted to the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association his resignation as a district member of the committee. He stated that he did so with deep regret, as he was keenly interested in the work of the association. Appreciation was expressed of Mr Morton’s services, and it was decided that ho should be asked to reconsider his decision.
