EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” DECEMBER 14, 1902.
The Levin Dairy Co’s shipment of butter by the Aotea for the Home market realised a nett price of 10Jd per lb. It was decided to liberate a consignment of 10,000 rainbow trout fry in the Kahuterawa Stream. It was reported from London that the Archbishop of Canterbury was very ill and his condition was causing grave anxiety. The Budget of the State of Victoria was expected to show a deficit of over £900,000, to be met by new taxation. A Paris message stated that it was intended to restore the Mediterranean Squadron to a war footing. At a sale of obsolete naval supplies in Sydney over £SOOO was realised, a torpedo bringing £4OO.
