GRAND ENTERTAINMENT.
All roads will load to the Opera House on Friday night. Widespread interest and enthusiasm is evident. A splendid souvenir programme is to be printed and besides other good things this will contain some “snappy” and “cheery” anti-depression contributions. This miscellaneous concert is being organised by Mr Harry Dawson, of Australia, who is a visitor to this city. The whole proceeds are to be handed over in equal proportions to the Mayor’s Relief Fund and the Salvation Army Christmas cheer (Ensign Thorne’s fund) without any deduction for expenses whatsoever. The Mayor, who is also co-operating enthusiastically, will be in the chair. Mr Dawson will show some unique pictures which attracted an audience of over 2000 in Sydney, and will be supported by the Salvation Army Band which will contribute beautiful band music. Orchestral and other talented artists are to assist. Owing to the times, admission ha. been fixed at the low cost of Is to any part of the hall. The box plan opens at the Central Booking Office, Broadway, on Wednesday.
