THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cycione has moved on to the Dominion, while a depression over the south-western Tasman Sea has apparentlv been losing intensity. Winds northerly to north-westerly prevailing and gradually freshening. Seas smooth to moderate, but rising about Cook and Eoveaux Straits. Freshening north to west winds in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Seas moderate, but rising in the southern portion. Weather fair to fine and warm generally at first, but cloud increasing in districts with a westerly aspect and rain developing later in Westland and about Foveaux Strait. DISTRICT REPORT. barometerTunsteady. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day.:—The indications are for northerly winds, moderate to strong and strong to gale at times, with some scattered showers, but mainly fair to cloudy weather. Conditions will become warm. The barometer is unsteady with a falling tendency. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —lft. 9ins.
