OBITUARY.
MR J. P. BOYLE. The late Mr J. P. Boyle, who passed away at Puhiatua on Saturday afternoon, was. born at Oroua Downs 42 years ago, being the third son of the late Mr Martin Boyle. He received his education at the Oroua Downs School and afterwards joined the railway service at Cross Creek. He saw 19 years’ service, being stationed at different times at Tailiape, Palmerston North and Wellington. For several years he was an engine-driver on the Main Trunk line. In recent years he was licensee of an hotel in Wellington and later of one in Palmerston North. After that he was living privately in Wellington until 18 months ago, he took over the lease of an hotel in Pahiatua. The late Mr Boyle was of a very quiet, reserved disposition. This season he joined the local bowling club and showed great keenness for the game. He was interested in many branches of sport and was a vice-president of several local clubs, football, cricket and athletics. He leaves a widow and two sons, William (aged 16) and Frank (aged 6). The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to them.- The deceased is also survived by four brothers and tlrree sisters. They are Messrs Henry Boyle (Christchurch), William (Wellington), James (New Plymouth) and Edward (Foxton); Mrs E. O’Sullivan (Waimate). Mrs Peter Neilson (Fairley) and Mrs Ben Johnson (Woodville).
