(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, Dec. 15.

Tho final community sing for the season was held on Wednesday night, the hall being well filled. Before commencing tho programme, Air E. J. Bowater (chairman of the School Committee) presented the prizes awarded to tho children for the year’s work, each recipient being greeted with applause. Air Bqwater expressed thanks to all who had assisted in making the evening a success, and took the opportunity to explain details in connection with tho picnic to bo held at Ballance Birdge on Saturday. Air J. Currie was in charge of the community sing and the old favourites were sung with glee. Contributors to the programme were: Mr B. Henderson, Air Guy Nicol, Airs Ken Bailey, Miss R. Dwyer, Alessrs A. K. Drew, J. Currie and F. W. Tostevjn, tho school choir and a midget quartette (Faith Butler, Nancy AlcConachy, Gordon Currie and Roy Sanson). All of tho items wore well received. An elocutionary contest for children was appreciated. Winners in the class up to 10 years were Vereta Butlor, Allen Forbes, Reg Davey; over 10 years, Dulcio Burrows and Alargarot Coultor. A pleasing interlude was a presentation to Airs E. N. Butler by the membors of tho school choir, Margaret Fay making the presentation on behalf of the children. Airs Butlor suitably responded. Tho programme was concluded with a playette, “The Rest Cure,” presented by members of tho Women’s Institute. Tho community hymn, “Abide with me,” and the National Anthem brought a most successful evening to a closo. A good number assembled at the Sanson School on Tuesday afternoon for the group Judging, •• Visitors and competitors were present from V aitolii. Ohakea, Carnarvon, Clydesdale and Sanson Schools. The judges were Air A. J. Alitchell (lvairanga.) for dairy typo and Air F. Alason (Feilding) for care and attention. Alter announcing the winners' both judges gave a demonstration to show how they had arrived at their decisions. The tickets and ribbons were presented by Mr 11. J. Fagan and the ribbons wero tied around the necks of the winners. Afternoon tea was served at the hall by local ladies. Air 11. J. Fagan expressed the thanks of the group committee for their assistance of the fudges and to the ladies for providing afternoon tea. Air Alitchell returned thanks and congratulated the children on their excellent exhibits. Air Lange complimented the children on the splendid records they had kept of their exhibits. lire list of awards has already appeared in the “Standard.”
