PALMERSTON N. LADIES v. THE REST. The team selected to play for the Palmerston North Club against The Rest of the Affiliated Clubs at Feilding is as follows: —Mrs Kearney, Mrs Beattie, Miss Astle, Mrs Ward, Miss Heard, Miss Louis, Miss H. Wapp, Mrs Tates, Miss McKenzie, Mrs Holmes, Mrs New. The names of the team playing for The Rest have already been published. Apparently both teams are rather stronger than last year and an interesting match may be anticipated. Although in the men’s match Palmerston North has won on every occasion, the ladies of the Rest have hitherto been undefeated. TOURNAMENT AT HAWERA. "The Hawera Lawn Tennis Club’s 1932 championship and handicap tournament will commence on Boxing !)av and continue for three days, when eight courts will be available for play. The championship events comprise men’s, ladies’, boys’, girls’, schoolboys’ and schoolgirls’ , singles, while there are men’s, ladies’ ana combined doubles. The handicap events comprise men’s, ladies’ and combined doubles and men’s and ladies’ singles, and trophies are at stake in all cases. BULLS BEAT WOODVILLE. Playing in the Wednesday competition at Woodville, the Bulls Tennis Club were successful by 15 sets and 144 games to 1 set and 74 games. The detailed scores are as follow, Bulls names being mentioned first: —Men’s singles. —Ralfe beat Rennett, 9 —6; Duncan boat Shearman, 9 —6; Sneddon beat Burlace, 9—o; Gould beat Gillespio, 12 —10, Ladies’ singles.—Mrs Ralfe lost to Miss Mules, 6—B; Mrs Henderson beat Miss Griniinton, 7—Oj Miss Kearney beat Miss Peebles, 7—5; Miss Simpkin beat Miss Kirkpatrick, 7—2. Men’s doubles. —Ralfe and Sneddon beat Rennett and Shearman, 10 —8; Duncan and Gould beat Bupiace and Gillespie, 9 —6. Ladies’ doubles. —Mes(;ln.mes BaVfo and Hinderson beat Misses Mules and Griniinton, 7—4; Misses Kearney and Simpkin’ beat Misses Peebles and Kirkpatrick, 7 —4.
