YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. No change of note was Bhown in tho stock and share markot yesterday, tho main foaturo again being tho firm demand for gilt-odgod securities. Prices of Government stocks showed firmness. Salos of 54 per cent, bonds, Soptomber and February, 1937, were reported at £99 53. Thcro wero closing bids at £99, but sellers of tho September maturities asked par. In tho debenture section city municipal stocks wore again in good demand. Wellington Harbour Board 5J por cents., 1940, ffirmed 5s to £99 10s. Wellington Gas 64 por cents, hardoned another 5s to £99 15s. Banks 40s, sellers asking 9d bettor. Union of Australia wero weak at £6 15s, but sellers wore again quiet. Now Zoaland stayed at hold for £7. Sales at £7 and £7 Is 6d woro reported from Christchurch. There was very little change in. other sections of tho market, bidding being vory quint. South British Insurance firmed 6d to 52s 6d, and Gear Moats woro 3d bettor at 24s 6d, sellers not responding. Sharlands, ordinary and preference, wero firmer at 17s 6d, no sellers, and Eloetrolytic Zinc, preference, gainod 6d at 23s 6d. Woolworths (N.Z.) preference were 3d up at 28s 3d, sobers asking 3d higher. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
