INTO CONSTABLE’S ARMS.
ESCAPED PRISONER’S LEAP. Per Press Association. WIIANGAREI, Dec. 22. After being at liberty for a week, Allan Alfred Beehre, who escaped from the Whangarei lock-up where he was being held on a commitment warrant, was recaptured last night at a Public Works camp at Titoki. The hut wherein lie sought concealment was surrounded by the police. In attempting to get away Beehre jumped through a window right into the arms of a constable. Charged this morning with being an incorrigible rogue, accused was sentenced to three months’ hard labour, to be concurrent with fourteen days for default of payment of a previous fine, and on an indictment for a breach of liis probation order lie was convicted and discharged.
