FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Dec. 22. On a “Standard” representative making enquiries from tho Foxton Harbour Board secretary (Mr R. Rangihcuea) regarding camping charges at Manawatu Heads, he was informed that tho Harbour Board charges all campers 2s per day for the first day and 6a per day for each subsequent day, or 5s for a fortnight. There are four 600-gallon tanks at the beach hall, said Mr Rangihcuea, and these constitute a water supply for campers. Revenue from camp charges is applied to effecting improvements to tho camping area. Last year £ll was collected and expended in putting down an artesian bore which, however, was not a success. Tho charge is legal if campers occupy the board’s endowment land, but there is nothing to prevent campors from erecting tents outsido tho board’s area free of cost. When funds permit the board hopes to make the camping area more acceptable to campers. The breakdown in the town water supply has now been remedied and tho supply of water restored to normal.
