SWIMMING SPORTS.
INTER-CLUB EVENTS. Despite the cold weather which prevailed last evening, there was a good attendance of swimmers and spectators at the Central School baths, when an inter-club fixtui-e was conducted by the Central School Swimming Club. A feature of the sports were the trials for swimmers to represent Manawatu at the New Zealand championships. There were excellent entries, over 80 competing for the events other than those of a novelty nature. The majority of the races were so well handicapped that there was little between the placed competitors. The officials controlling tire arrangements and who were responsible for the various events being expeditiously decided were as follow: Director, Mr AV. Eyre; chairman of committee, Mr C. McKenzie; secretary, Mr L. G. Berry; starter, Mr J. Fahey; judges, Messrs AA’. Schwarz (diving), AA r . J. Fitzsimmons, A. Gordon; blackboard steward, Mr J. Connor; time-keepers, Messrs It.
