DROWNING ACCIDENT.
Per Press Association. THAMES, Dec. 24. James Nicholson, aged nine, the son of Mr Recce Nicholson, storekeeper, of Coromandel, was drowned in Furey’s Creek yesterday evening. Deceased and his elder stepbrother, Joseph Casey, were sent a message and when returning fell in the creek. Both were unable to swim. The lad Casey was rescued by James Martin, but the other boy was swept under a punt. The body was recovered an hour later.
