LONDON TRADE QUIET. Lamb and mutton market: As usual, thero is littlo trade during this week owing to the Christmas demand for poultry and other meats. Warm unseasonable weather has generally adversely affected trado for meat of all descriptions. The above report was received on Saturday by tho Meat Board from its London office, which advises that tho following arc the approximate average prices realised for the week ended December 23, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of tho descriptions of meat mentioned, and arc for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week being for business dono on tho basis of delivered to Smithfield Market and/or ex London stores. Prices for the two previous weeks arc also shown. New Zealand Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes: 481 bto 561 b, 4id (same); 571 b to 641 b, 4*d (4id, 4|d); 651 b to 721 b, 4id (4J,d, 4gd) North Island crossbred wethers and maiden owes: 481 bto 561 b, 4gd (same); 571 bto 641 b 4jjd (same); 651 b to 721 b, 4§d (same). Ewe’s: 481 b and under, 33d (same); 481 b to 641 b, 3gd (same) ; 651 b to 721 b, 2£d (3d, 3d).
