OTAGO’S CLEAR-CUT WIN. SUPERB BOWLING BY BABCOCK. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Bee. 28. Otago scored a clear-cut victory over Wellington in the Plunket Shield match by 7/ runs. The southerners owed their victory to the superb trundling of Badcock, who bowling unchanged, sent down 59.1 overs, 00 of which were maidens, and captured six wickets for 72 runs Dunning also put up a tine bowling performance, only 73 runs coming from the 41 overs he served up. Hawkesworth did brilliant work with the gloves, his taking on the leg side being firstclass.

With the total at 103 the Wellington professional, who had just passed his half-century, was l>owlcd by one from Dunning which made the pace from the pitch. Dempster had batted very soundly for his 52. which included five boundary strokes. With the total at 139 O'Brien opened out to Badcock and placed the ball in Knight's hands at mid-off. Canterbury scored 255 in their second strike, and Auckland had to score at a faster rate than a hundred runs an hour to win. The task proved too great, but if the Auckland batsmen had had two hours longer they might have secured an outright win. The weather was fine and the wicket and outfield in good order.
