TWO SUBDIVISIONS TO BE CONTESTED.
Nominations closed at noon to-day for tho election of members of the Manawatu-Oruua River Board. An election will be necessary in two of the five subdivisions, owing to the number of candidates exceeding the number of seat vacancies available. The nominations received a.re as follow :
Makertia Subdivision (three vacancies). —Messrs H. J. T. Hume, T. D. Lynch, Herman Seifert, William Jackson.
Kairanga Subdivision (two vacancies). —Messrs J. E. C. Harrison, J. Calleson and A. Mitchell. Moutoa Subdivision (two vacancies). —Messrs B. G. Gower and W. S. Carter.
Koputaroa Subdivision (one vacancy).—R. J- Law. Orotta Subdivision (one vacancy).— Mr H. J. Lancaster. There wH! ho no election in the last three .subdivisions.
