APITI, Dec. 29. Miss Ida Malcolm has gone to New Plymouth to attend the Presbyterian Bible Class Conference. Mr and Mrs H. Ashworth, Palmerston North, Mrs G. Ashworth and her sons, Messrs C. and K. Ashworth, of Wellington, have returned to their homes after spending Christmas with Mr and Mrs G. Cowan. Misses M. and L. Osborne have gone to Foxton Beach f:r a fortnight. Beautiful weather for the tennis tournament on Boxing Day gave tennis players every opportunity for an enjoyable day’s play. A clock tournament was played, ten minutes being allowed for each game. When scores were counted Miss R. Hitchman was the winner of the ladies’ prize. Three men, S. Swift, D. Ritchie and D. Kcarnoy, tied for first place, the final play-off resulting in a win for S. Swift. On Tuesday a second tournament was plaved, when about thirty players took advantage of another pleasant day\ Tho prizes were won by Mrs A. R. McNao and K. Waterson. On both days refreshments were served by tho lady members of the club. Local farmers are busily engaged harvesting their hay crops while tho fine weather continues.
