ANGLO-IRISH DISPUTE. IMPORTANT POLITICAL MOVE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 130 , 2.35 p.m. LONDON. Dec. 29. A National Government for the Irish Free State is the possible outcome of a meeting of 130 prominent citizens in Dublin, held in the Mansion House. A resolution, moved by the Lord Mayor, Mr Alfred Bvrne. and carried with enthusiasm, recorded the opinion that the struggle between the Irish and British Governments cannot, whatever the result, lead to a permanent- solution, and called upon all believing in peace by direct negotiation to “combine in one great national movement to end the disastrous economic war, to ensure the maintenance of the treaty, subject to alteration by proper methods, and to conclude trade agreements with Britain, securing the position of Free State farmers in the British Market.” The Lord Mayor, in an interview, said: “A National Government is urgently needed. The resolution will lie circulated among members of the Dail and the Senate.” A further conference will be called at the Mansion House. Mr W. T. Cosgrove, in an interview. said a National Governmentwould seek to settle the difficulties with the British Government. “It would be welcomed by me and by the majority of Deputies in the Dail. It is essential to end the economic war.’
