EDITOR RESIGNS.
MR T. CLARKE’S DECISION. LONDON, Oct. 3. Mr Tom Clarke has resignec the editorship of the News-Chronicle. He declares that a growing divergence of views makes this the only possible course. Mr Clarke is one of the best known of Britain’s journalists, and in addition to occupying the position of editor of the News-Chronicle he is also a director of that company. He obtained his first important London position in 1907, when no was appointed news editor of the Daily Sketch; in 1911 he joined the foreign staff of the Daily Mail, becoming night news editor in 1913. He was subsequently appointed news editor by the late Lord Northcliffe upon his return from the Army in 1919, and was sent to Canada and the United States of America to study newspaper methods in 1920. During the years 1923 to 1926 he filled the position of assistant editor on the Herald, Melbourne. Mr Clarke’s widely-read book, “My Northcliffo Diary,” was published in 1931.
