BATHERS DROWNED.
WHIRLPOOL MENACE. CALCUTTA, Oct. 3. Swept into a whirlpool bv a strong current at the foot of the famous Courtallum Waterfalls, in South India, thirteen of a party of thirty-one religious bathers were drowned. The waterfalls were reinforced .by millions of tons of water due to abnormal rains. The bathers entered the pool despite a warning.
