CUBAN TURMOIL.
ATTEMPT TO KILL PRESIDENT. Received October 4, 1.40 p.m. HAVANA, Oct. 3. An attempt to assassinate President Grau San Martin failed to-day when a volley of bullets struck around his automobile in the aftermath of many hours of strife here. The President was returning to tile palace after visiting the hospitals where the wounded had been taken following the battle at the National Hotel and the night’s fighting. . A convoy car immediately behind the presidential automobile was struck many times, endangering soldiers and guards.
