FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Oct. 3. The monthly meeting of the District High School Committee was presided over by Mr J. K. Hornblow. A lengthy discussion took place regarding tho ground improvement scheme, particularly in regard to preventing tho sand from drifting and the boundary fences, and it was decided to request the board’s architect to confer with the committee. The question of tho committee's straitened finances was reviewed and it was decided to wait upon tho school staff to discuss an effort to raise funds to meet current expenses. Complimentary references were made to tho inspector’s report concerning tho secondary department. Messrs Robinson and Mudford were appointed visitors for tho month. Tho draw for the first round of the consolation golf handicap is as follows: Miss Bowo plays Mrs Austin, Miss Barber plays Mrs W. Smith, Miss Speirs plays Miss Woods, Mrs Jaggcr plays Mrs Woods. ' A particularly severe frost was experienced on Tuesday morning. It played havoc with gardens. Several minor 'frosts have been recorded of lato, but nothing so in tense as that on Thursday.
